« on: May 04, 2011, 09:29:05 AM »
Im in the market for a 243 Encore pistol barel with the muzzlebreak. Flipping threw the web I found this guy ,http://www.reedercustomguns.com/. So I called him up and found out he's having a sale on Encore barrels till the end of the month . The Encore pistol barrel in SS w/ muzzlebreak is $300. My question to you guys is has anyone ever used his product and if so whats you out take on his work? $300 is the cheapiest Ive seen as of now. Thx for your input

Are you going to load for it ?  If so, What bullet do you expect to use ?   Your heaviest bullet wont be much over 100gr.  Do you know that you'll need the muzzlebrake (not break) ?

Excuse my grammer but as of now I dont reload but in the future I will be. Im shooting a 85gr pill from my existing 243 barrel and she's getting 3/4" at 100 yards so thats where I will start. I'm actually wanting to stretch her out to about 500 yrds thats why I want the muzzlebrake to reduce the recoil. I talked to TC and was told I could send my barrel back to them and they would install a Mag Port break on it for $120 but not until mid August when their custom shop opens up.

I'm sure there are many who will be glad to see the re-emergence of the custom shop.  In the interim may I suggest you do some reading at www.6mmbr.com as they have articles relating to distance shooting.  Also, you may wish to register and read at www.specialtypistols.com
They also may give you some insight and ideas.  rp

The jp tank style muzzle brake is the most effective to date. 169 installed would give you a 100% reduction instead of 40% reduction of the magnaport (4 port). http://www.eabco.com/cssmb.html

When you get into reloading you may want to try the berger 90 gr match target with your 1-10" barrel.
Good Luck.
