I am loading .243win for an AR10. I have good neck tension. Do I need to crimp? My worry is that the bullet might push into the case during feeding.

ive loaded 10s of thosands of ar rounds and have never crimped a one.

I'd check your tension & try things 1st. Some case/bullet combinations can be a little loose, most likely not. I don't crimp in most situations. When I do it's usually with a Lee FCD.

I increase neck tension by turning down the expander ball by .002-.003,I just got my ar but this process works for my mini's.

I have loaded enough 223 Rem ammo to wear out three service rife match barrels. None of those cartridges were loaded with crimped bullets. If I were loading for a M249 SAW I would consider crimping the bullets.

Try it both ways using a light crimp with same load data. You will likely see a difference between the two loads and there affects on POI,accuracy and chrono data. In some case the crimped rds. in a particular rifle may shoot better they also may not but you want know to you test it in your rifle.

I didn't know there were autos that weren't mag fed. I though those were called single shots

Unless you count a belt fed, which I think one would surely crimp for.

If you choose not to crimp it might be good pratice to not chamber the same round over and over. Like when hunting and moving from place to place where a loaded rifle is not allowed on the road.

You mean the Ruger with the rotary magazine?

I'm sure there are some tube fed centerfire autos as well, but what's an auto without some sort of magazine, tube or otherwise? But I don't have any auto's so I'll be quiet.

Ok, ok, so most autoloaders are mag fed, be it tubular or removable. Of course there's the M1 Garrand, (Clip Fed). To make the nit pickers happy, I'll revise my post to read: "I crimp any ammo that will be used in a magazine or clip fed firearm." It's worked for me for over 45yrs, not likely to change soon.

Well, since you asked, maybe an English lesson is in order. Facetious: meant to be humorous or funny, Nitpick: concerned with trivial details, two different things. I guess I was facetiously nitpicking, not just nitpicking. I could nitpick without trying to be funny, or be facetious without nitpicking. But since I have a monopoly on my brand of humor, I'll stop trying to be funny.
For what it's worth, I've shot uncrimped loads out of a full auto Colt M-4 with no problems, cycling wise, groups were a different story. All in fun, I'll stop.
