Redhawk holster (true 4")

Looking for a good field holster for a Bowen Alpine 4" Redhawk. Any suggestions?

Don't know what a " Bowen Alpine" Redhawk is.  But I bought my holster for my 4" Redhawk from Ruger.  Its a nice looken rig.  Basket weave style with a hammer loop with the Ruger logo.  And best of all made in the USA.  I believe Hunter made it for them.  Good price too.

any N frame smith holster should work fine.

Thanks for the input, but I think the Ruger holster is made for 4 1/4" and the RH trigger gaurd is a bit large for the N frame holsters I have...

I'm sure you have your reasons but an  extra 1/4"???? That may be of  importance in some things but in a holster? By the way the Ruger holster (nice unit) AND a very nice belt for less than 100 bucks is a pretty darn good deal. Couple or three speed loaders and pouches and you're ready.

Well, there I went and did it, telling you what a good deal the belt and holster from Ruger was, just got through ordering one for myself.   ;D

Tried Simply Rugged and unfortunately that did not workout.  Can you tell me how the heavy RH rides in the non pancake style Galco or Hunter... Thanks

A late response to an older thread. I received the holster and belt from Ruger a while back. The holster was umm... 35ish and the belt was around 45. First thing the belt is a different color, kinda the cordovan shade and the the holster is a nice natural tan color. (if that makes a difference to you) The holster is a good fit for the 4in Redhawk,  as is the belt for size.  Quaility.....so-so, the holster is an okay deal for that price but I don't think the belt is worth the cost. After trying them I went back to a Uncle Mikes padded cordura setup.  And I really don't like those much. Not much support.  May try oiling them up a couple times and see if it becomes a little more comfortable. All in all my impression is " they're kinda chintzy," but for a leather belt and holster under 100bucks probably about what you'd expect.

I really like the left side butt forward, high ride.  I use this for my 5.5" RedHawk and it should only be better with the 4".

Make sure the holster has a forward cant, then wear it just forward of the left hip bone.

This is a great way to carry for right handed folk.  Keeps the handgun out of the way of things carried in the right hand/on the right side.  Makes it east to carry in the rig or on the 4 wheeler and is very quick to get into action if needed.
