Very, very nice wood, and a very classy barreled action to mate it to. Scope choice is difficult, 4x is fine, maybe a compact mid-power variable, 2-7 or some such. Or, if a guy can find one, how about one of the "repro" Lyman Alaskans that Leopold made about 10 years or so ago, with a 7/8" tube. Sort of delicate looking. IIRC they were made in 2 1/2 X, 4X, and 6X, the later of which would be my choice.
Since I am the first to respond, as much as I'd like you to give the finished rifle to me for a prize, I'm afraid I'll have to pass, only cause the cheekpiece is on the wrong side!!!
Speaking of which, for a while I worked at a Sportsmans Warehouse when it first opened up. A fair number of folks came in over the 2 or so years I was there, looking for a rifle for southpaws. I would always show them #1's, but they would always turn up their noses at a single shot. Try as I might, I don't think I ever sold one. I guess that there is no accounting for some people!!
When I applied for the job, the firearms manager, to see what sort of guy I was, asked me a hypothetical question..a friend won a big lottery and was going to send me on an Alaska Moose hunt...what rifle would I have him buy for me....I thought about it for a moment, a said a #1, SS, in .375H&H with a fixed 6X leopold. They are just so elegant, and yours is even more so, for sure !!
