Slug hunter scope rail
« on: May 07, 2011, 06:40:24 PM »
Just picked up my ultralight slughunter in 12 ga.  Gonna cut it to 20", exchange the pallet wood furniture (which is quite nice) for a handi grip set, and install either a burris or docter reflex sight.  These sights are really tiny, less than 2" long.  I was gonna remove the scope rail and cut it down to match the length of the sight for aesthetic reasons but lo and behold there are no screws in it.  Are they soldered on, superglued, or what?  And will it withstand the recoil of magnum slugs in a 5# package?

Interesting, is the base steel or aluminum? If aluminum, it's probably not soldered on. If steel, seems likely it is soldered otherwise they would just use the cheaper aluminum base. Just my guess.

Probably a steel base brazed on.
