**This link should work**

Enclosed is a link to a picture of my Grandfather and his brother after a
rabbit hunt.  It was taken around 1913.

I know it's tough but can anyone ID the rifle in his hands?

Any help appreciated more than you'll ever know.

Thanks,
Sandy F.

Sorry Sandy.  I couldn't get the picture to open as it keeps telling me I am not the owner of the area.  Lawdog

Sandy as you say it is hard to tell in the photo but looks as if it could have been an old Savage/ Stevens  favorite/crackshot in .22 or 25 rimfire. Someone might be able to shed more light on this than I . Best of luck. POW

Sandy,
POW has called it pretty closely....only thing I wonder about is the shape of the stock in back of the trigger.  It seems to be cut away more than the Stevens or Savage-Stevens single shot rim-fires?????

That high comb looks like the Stevens favorites in my Grant's boy Single Shot Rifles.

Sandy,
Do you have the rifle in the picture, or does it still exist in your family?

Sorry to say it's not in my family anymore.
I wouldn't mind trying to find one though.

Question:  Was 25 rimfire more popular than 22 rimfire at the turn of the century?

I just found the picture this Christmas while  sorting some old pictures
that nobody wanted.  Classic hunting photo, in my opinion.  Of course I'm prejudice because it's Grandpa:)

The link ( picture) you referenced looked close but the stock is somewhat different.

Can anyone link me to a picture of the "Grant's" rifle mentioned above?

Thanks again for all your help.

Unfortunately the young man's hand is covering the receiver area, but it appears to have more drop to the stock, like the Stevens 44 models, or the Remington #4. Possibly a Stevens Sure Shot?
There are a number of other possibilities, but it would just be guessing with what I can see.
