Wisconsin is good. The CCW law will be in place on November. You can hunt deer with an AR-15 in any available caliber and any magazine, very cool. I use an AR and an M1A and a 1911.

Idaho, by far if you want to really get as far away from the bogus as possible. I think there a only a few states that can be put in this category. Great gun laws and really excellant hunting. I think a large majority of the people living there for a while have a distrust of our government and I like that.

But have to admit setting aside many negatives, its still hard to beat Wisconsin from my perspective due to personal reasons. I would go there in a heart beat. And I may just do that soon.....Although it may be via North Carolina for a couple of years.

Maine, the way life should be!!!!!!!! It's warm in the summer, the trout and salmon are willing in spring, the fall is a great time to deer hunt, and it is cold when the snow is deep. But the bugs will eat you alive in spring and summer, the ticks are awful through the fall and if you don't mind frost bite winter is a great time to preditor hunt. Why the @#% do we live here?

A job??  If you can't find work, it's cause you ain't looking. Don't know what your used to, but a man can earn a good living here. Of course, myself, I don't need much. I have a lot of wants, but very few needs. It's pretty much, "if Wal-Mart don't have it, I don't need it". The cost of living here, in the small rural counties is very low. I live 60 miles east of Nashville, and drive to Nashville everyday to keep from living in the city or subs... Worth the time and gas money. If I had to go to another state, it would be western NC or northeastern GA. I might consider LA and ARK.
If your gonna be stupid, you had better be tough.

What gun laws? Do they make laws about guns? You could always carry openly in Wyo. After the Feds thought that every state should have conceald carry laws we had a law for awhile, but they just repealed that.

I read vemont is pretty relaxed on the gun laws, second to alaska. I have no idea what the cost of living is though.

I've lived in VT all my life so far, except for a stint in the Army, followed by two years in Connecticut for job-related reasons.  We've got the most relaxed gun laws in the country but the cost of living is high, the taxes are high, and the politics are about as socialist as it gets.  The state has gone pretty much "tourist" and is a totally "red" state. Compared to what it used to be, it's way overbuilt with "vacation" homes.  Good jobs are scarce. It's getting harder and harder here to find a place to hunt, unless you own a big chunk of property yourself or know someone who does.  Yep, the gun laws are relaxed, but that's not everything to consider.  I'm keeping my eyes open for something other than here.

You can't beat east Texas for cost of living. The hunting is better than its ever been in my lifetime. I have a house on Lake Tawakoni and own land between Henderson and Nacogdoches thats been in my family for 100 years. Sometimes I think I'm the luckiest sportsman alive. If you love forested rolling hills and some of the best hunting and fishing and a moderate climate eastTexas is a paradise. Also if you don't own land leases and pulic land are dirt cheap and its pretty good hunting if you put in the time.

Maryland or Mass. both seem right . Va. is always under investigation about gun violations from New York so why get tied up in that mess.

BTW hows chicken lady getting along ?

Hmmmm, don't know about that. I left there due to the unfriendly firearm laws. Pennsylvania gets my vote.

I am from Vidor, TX and I wouldnt call East Texas summers Moderate.  But I guess some may.  Hot and Humid as all get out for nine months out of the year isnt my cup of tea.  Which I guess is why I live in Western Wyoming now where we have snow on the ground roughly nine months out of the year.  Plus after I had to evacuate from Hurricane Rita I decided that was enough for me.

I live in VT, no state gun laws, period.  You can carry concealed or open with no permit.  Low crime, go figure...
Hunting is decent, not great.  Winters can be brutal, spring, summer and fall are unbelievable.  Cost of living is high, jobs are hard to come by.  Generally two types of people, screaming leberal granolas, redneck conservatives.  We all seem to get along though...

Vermont is number one. great place to hunt an shoot. As JLChucker said it can be hard living and it is changing, but it's still beautiful place to live and a safe place to raise kids. Vermont still has more cows than people. I see that as a plus.

Here in New England, VT, NH, and Maine would be the best for Hunt/fish, and gun laws.  However, the jobs etc are in Ma, RI and CT, and they are run by liberal anti-gun people.  So If you can find work or are retired, the northern half would be my pick.

A few years ago an outdoor magazine listed the best places to live if you liked to hunt and fish.
The number one town was Mountain Home, Arkansas.   Well I've been there and its scary with all the aliens.  Just last week they saw a Yankee with a U-haul come to town.

The hunting and gun laws in Oregon are OK but the amount of game sucks.  Also if you do hunt here, avoid Tillamook county at all costs.  The do they're best to supplement county funds with traffic and game fines.  They'll charge you with something even if there's no evidence.  All it takes is some one to say it happened.

i live in sw mo and love it. low cost of living, lack of laws to bother you allthough we are getting there like everyone else.plenty of game allthough the fishing is not that great unless i go into OK. if i had to do it all over i mite look into north centrel or nw MO. more turkey and bigger deer and rabbits.and maybe not so hot and dry in the summer.but ive only been there a few times so dont really know for sure.

From mid-September to mid-May Mississippi is a good place if you like to shoot, hunt, and fish.  We have about the same number of deer as people - somewhere around 3 million.  More per square mile than any other state.  And surviving summer is not so hard with air conditioning.  We're a shall-issue state for concealed carry permits, and I think the legislature is likely to clear up some ambiguity about open carry next session.

wyoming was allways my first choise of were id move to if i could but my dad had a buddy who lived to hunt. He had been in the airforce most of his life and had tried to get transfered to places that had good hunting all his career. He had been stationed in many states that had good hunting including out west and alaska and his first choise hands down was Idaho.
