Leupold quick release rings and bases?
« on: December 29, 2003, 11:18:15 AM »
Has anyone tried these on their Encore?  I have a 22-250 rifle coming in next week and am looking for suggestions on rings and bases.  I plan to put a Leupold Vari-X II 3x9 scope on it.

Yep, they work just fine.  Have them on two Encores and also ready to install on the G2 when it gets here.

I like the Warne better, don't mark the scope as bad .

I too like the Warne mounts better.  Seem beefier to me.

Leupold QR rings do not hurt the scope.  QRW might be another matter.

I went with the Leupold QR bases and Ultra high rings.  I originally ordered medium rings as suggested by Leupold, but could barely get my thumb between the scope and hammer, and that was without gloves.  I looked at the Leupold QRW and Warne rings, but they were way to heavy for my liking.  I have had the QR setup on 1 other muzzleloader and they have never failed me to retain the same point of inpact.

Any of you use one scope on multiple barrels with the Quick Release system?  It seems that if you had the bases on all your barrels you could take a scope off one barrel and attach it to another.  It also may be possible to have some pre-calculated adjustments so when you change barrels you would know exactly the number of clicks the scope would need to be adjusted to accommodate the new barrel.  Happy New Year!
