I wonder why
« on: May 12, 2011, 03:59:13 AM »
When the price of oil climbs I see posts on almost every forum I visit about the price of gasoline and cussing those greedy oil companies. The price of oil has dropped almost $19 in the last couple of weeks and I haven't seen one post thanking the oil companies.  ;D

All the companies do is produce the oil.  The price is set by all the people who buy it and sell it, all around the world, 24 hours a day.

Lower prices are not bad news, therefore they will always go practically unreported. The newspapers are practically worthless for getting good quality information that is usable. I cannot recall ever getting timely usable information from a mainstream news source, except weather reports.

After having several times witnessed a person getting kicked repeatedly in the crotch , I never once expected to hear them thank their aggressor for removing his foot.

They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

Ours went from $4.11 to $4.09 and that took 3 days after it was said the price of oil dropped, and it's still at that price. But if you here on the news that the price of oil went up,by the time you get to the pump the price has already increased. I think it's still about $2.00 a gal more than it should be.

Folks, it's not the oil companies charging so much, they only make a few cents per gallon profit.  Most of what you pay is taxes, and speculating.  And the cost of production and shipping.  It cost a lot more money to drill out in the ocean than on land.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I'm aware of that and have posted the fact before. I was just curious what people thought about the drop in oil prices.

I was in town this morning. Gasoline has dropped 15 cents a gallon and diesel has come down 20 cents a gallon in my little town.

Actually, the top five oil companies (BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil and Shell) reported total 2010 profits of $77 billion.  Sounds like a lot, I know, but they make less than 5 cents per gallon of gas sold - that means our government makes more per gallon than they do.  And don't forget, our weak dollar is responsible for most of the recent spike in oil and gas prices.  Direct your anger to where it belongs - and it ain't the oil companies.
