Swampman is right on this one. There is no gold in Ft. Knox. The army had a division there and it was just moved to Ft. Benning, Ga. Also, the gold is distributed to the 7 regional Federal Reserve banks. The US only has about 300 billion in gold. Not enough to cover the Trillions of dollars in debt or worthless money. In 1913 before the Federal Reserve was set up, the dollar was worth $20 for one ounce of gold, thus the $20 goldpiece. Today with the inflated dollars not backed by gold it takes about $1,500 to buy one ounce of gold.

No one really knows. My hunch is it's there, because Ft Knox is a fine depository, the question is whether its "unencumbered", who owns it. Most world gold has been loaned, leased, swapped, etc. The old fractional reserve thing. I have read that the congressmen who visited in the 70s were not qualified to even assay it, they were just taken through like tourists and they saw some gold, because Ft. Knox is a good place to keep it.

Paul has been trying to audit it for a long time. This may be a clever way for him to force the issue.

DIXIE DUDE. What they moved to Ft Benning is the ww1 and up Tanks and a lot of other stuff from the Patton museum. I really hated to see them go , it was a great place to visit. They got rid of the chopper and a bunch of the tanks on the grounds but there are a few left. We went there often. THey are transitioning from armor to infantry. I believe the gold is still there. You don't have a Congressman in your state that will even come close to Paul's respect in voting for both documents. Most military folks LIKE RON PAUL, and they know what he means, and says what he means, while others TWIST what he means into something else.

Well Swampy, having never lived where you live, I guess that since they have never commented on Paul in your presence, your saying that you don't know what they think of him, but congradulations on staying in one town for so long. Some people move around a lot, but I can see your a stayer.
We on the other hand have a little bitty base down here in Texas called Ft Hood, and I go there occasionally. I like soldiers, as all three of my sons were soldiers, and I like talking to them, and they like Ron Paul as a general rule.
