Savage Mod. 69 PXL Riot Gun Question
« on: May 12, 2011, 03:38:39 PM »

This Riot Shotgun came to me with a "failure to eject" problem. Pictured are the pieces of broken parts I removed.

I'm not sure that this is the correct ejector, as all the drawings and pictures I can find show the Mod 30,66 etc. "housing, plunger, spring" style ejector, that appears to mount in the same place as the "flat spring" ejector, that I removed. (single screw thru the reciever) I can't find any reference to a "flat spring" style ejector for this Model, or a parts list/drawing

Anybody know what part belongs in there, and/or have a source?

Thanks, Paul

Personal opinion is a good thing, and everyone is entitled to one.  The hard part is separating informed opinion from someone who is just blowing hot air....

Hey Big, thanks for the reply.

Gun parts lists the Mod 69, but does not show a parts drawing specifically for it. Similar models (and there are a ton) show the "housing, spring, plunger" style ejector only, no "flat spring" style.

I'm beginning to think what I have is the demon seed of a "kitchen table" gunsmith.(it has all the classic signs, bunged up screw heads, bent, mushroom'd pins, half moon scratches, etc.)

I'm reluctant to order the parts listed for another model, until I find somebody that has actually been inside the belly of the beast. This particular riot gun (savage) has a colorful and checkered past, many running changes, model designator changes, etc. and is still in use today by LE, both here and overseas. (though  production was stopped long ago)

Many parts are still available, (because they cross so many models) so this is turning into more of a restoration, rather than just a repair. I'd really like to get it right.

Thanks again, Paul

The link below is all I could find leading to a flat spring type ejector.. I have never worked on the 69 but have replaced more than a few of the ejectors on other models. The screw loosens and the action of the bolt shears it away from the ejector and all is lost.
