Colt Buntline Scout
« on: May 13, 2011, 03:21:40 PM »
Hi everybody! My favorite 22 revolver is my 10" Colt Buntline Scout convertible. Ive only ever shot the 22WMR cylindar to test for functioning, but the 22lr configuration has been carried from Maine to Louisiana and has accounted for everything from beavers, to an alligator in the neighborhood of 6ft when I was fortunate enough to draw a tag in the lottery on the North Shore Irish Bayou in Slidell LA just north of New Orleans. As accurate as my browning Buckmark, My Ruger Single Six, Ruger Mk II Gov't Target, High Standard HD Military, you get the picture. Mine was never in mint condition even when it first came into my posession 20 odd years ago and i've only seen maybe 3 others. Does anyone else out there hve any experiences to share regarding this outstanding revolver? If so, I would like to hear about them!

Just saw your posts today. Ive had a Buntline now for years although mine is not the convertible model. Ive packed this around on horse back in a flap holster when checking fence lines, looking for spring calves etc. It took a while to fiqure out what ammo it liked and where it printed with iron sites. Its' lost some blueing from the holster over the years but it's still a shooter. Have only seen one other and that was a gun show but I've never really searched for them. Iam interested in knowing the year it was built. Its got a serial # 789521 so maybe I'll contact Colt some time and see what they say.
Deceased due to a 3rd stroke on Dec. 12, 2011.

RIP John.

Thanx JLS, was beginning to think I was the only one. I guess every one who has/had one is holding on to them, or maybe they just didnt make that many to begin with. Thought about sending mine back to Colt for refinishing because I dont have nearly the time, or land for that matter that I had in years past, and dont get to carry even a .22 as much as I would like to. If you find out anything, please let me know. Thank you sir!
