Mine's a 1974 model 44 mag with a 24" barrel. It's legal for primitive weapon season here in Louisiana. In it, I shoot the Lee 310 FP w/1.09cc WC820. MV = 1100 fps in my SBH and probably ~1250 fps in the Shikari. The rifle is a good shooter. I paid $50 for it around 25 years ago.
The rifle was like new when I bought it. Sadly, Hurricane Rita put an arm-size limb through my roof, and I didn't know it until a few weeks later when during a long rainy spell I noticed water coming out of a closet. Uh oh. I had guns in the closet.... Luckily, only the Shakiri got wet. No water got in the barrel, but it got
on the barrel and on and down in the action. Rust was everywhere. So I learned how to takedown a Handi-Rifle. Today, the rifle is no worse for its Rita damage except for ugly pits where a scope would mount.
It's a bare barrel model, so some years ago I put a Williams Fire Sight on the front and a Williams WGOS in the rear sight slot. They work well.
