H&R 44mag........LO-PRO
« on: May 16, 2011, 08:47:37 AM »
this  was an old 44 mag with sights,,,,,,the front sight was pretty low
some of my newer sighted  H%Rs might have sights too high

the hardest part was removing the old sight
it was screwed in  not dovetailed....
and the sight had to be dismantled to get to the screw

i removed  the rear scope base screw  and installed it  into the OLD sight screw hole
then screwed in the LO-PRO  until it looked right
turned down the lock nut
put in the lazer bore sighter......it was dead on
there would have been elevation adjustments  but  not  windage
as  i said the is an old 44  with the  oversized  bore
they sights did not cause the key holing
i will get some pictures  and a range report
as soon as i load up some oversized slugs

so far  i am  happy with the sights.....glad  i ordered extras to play with

i finally sized some bullets to 431 with the new larger sizing die
NO TUMBLING BULLETS.......PROBLEM SOLVED

i will post a picture later of the sight

the gun  is  now a 100 yard gun
shoots a few  inches left  with no means to adjust....the price of simplicity
was a few inches high....[laser bore sighted prior]....one complete rotation down fixed that

this sight will not replace  my scopes and red-dots
but  it is way  ahead of any iron sights so far
this sight will stay on this rifle

i like the aperture it came with
but have all the other size aperture they sell here
trying them will be a project for another day

Very cool.  Looks like a nice simple sight also.  Been contemplating going with the lo-pro or the Handi- version with base, so I get windage also.  Thinking on my 45LC Classic, will do this one and for hunting with my 45-70 BC, get the one with the base.  ;)

i have the 45lr  BC

go with the lo-pro.....[i think]
the one with the windage adjustment will be taller
and maybe require a taller front sight
