10/22 trigger assembly loose.

Hi my son has a 10/22 that we bought new around 2 years ago. I noticed tonight the trigger guard and all hooked to it have play in it. I couldn't find an obvious screw that would snug it up. Thought it may be under the scope base but figured before I screwed something up GBO has a lot of people who know. So if you know what I am talking about and can help tell me what we need to do please post here or PM me with directions. Thank you, thejanitor

The 10-22 trigger group is just held in place by pins.How much play are we talking about?

There is just enough to give a wiggle to it. If you wrap your hand around the gun and trigger guard to carry it or pick it up you feel it move. (not just a shift one way or the other- it wiggles) It may be just fine, but the one I had a long time ago didn't wiggle so I thought there may be something loose with this newer one, and would have tightened a screw if that was all it needed.

I took the barrel band off and took out the screw that holds the stock on and all the pins were in position, so put it back together and it is still a little loose. So I guess it is supposed to be that way.  thejanitor

You can mic the pins and get some that are just a touch bigger.Also you can get a roll of aluminum tape and put a couple of pieces at the top of the trigger guard to help tighten it up.Been there and done both.Is it a plastic trigger guard by chance?

  Unless it's a built-up target gun, don't let it worry you.  Even then, a good bedding will keep everything tight and wiggle-less.  Remember, it's a mass production, $200 plinker not a finely hand tuned match gun.  Enjoy it.  :)

If it really buds you as it did me, you can get some KIDD trigger pins and replace the old ones.

they tightened my TG up nicely.
