Anyone have a recommendation for a holster for Contender with 10" barrel and without a scope.

Belt carry?   Cross draw?   Bandolier?   Shoulder?

Would primarily use for hiking.  May use for 2nd gun while hunting.

Initial thoughts are .38 bird shot / .357  or .410 / .45 Colt.  Any comments on shooting the .410 without the choke?

Thanks in advance,

After trying all the possibilities with my Contenders and other handguns I settled on cross draw for the short barreled ones.   Not as prone to snag in brush, protects the firearm better, most comfortable to wear all day, especially on horse back or if in and out of a vehicle.   I had mine custom made out of leather just because I prefer leather, and they were slotted to accept those scoped, but one from the nylon materials would be as good or better.

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

Below is a link to what I think is the simplest, handiest, most comfortable and most well made holster for handguns with long barrels.  If you decide to later get a handgun with a scope, a longer barrel, a different  chambering, etc., you can get additional holsters/cartridge holders made and switch by removing a few screws.
