2011 Grice's 7600 Special Run?
« on: May 23, 2011, 01:24:29 PM »
So it's time for the obligatory annual thread.

So what calibers do you think/wish Grice's will do this year.

For me there are only two that would buy without hesitation.

A carbine in 35 Whelen or 358 Winchester.

I think it's time to do the 35 Remington's again in both wood and plastic they are getting scarse.

Carbines of course.

Hey Buddy - I'd take one in either 6.5 Swede or 8mm Mauser......

WOW you guys are really reaching with those choices.

And I thought 358 Win was a stretch.

If they made one in .358 I'd be scrambling to try to get them to ship one up here to Canada.  In my eyes that would be the perfect hunting rifle.

Rick, got a rechambered 760 18.5" barrel in .358 Win.  If there's a better deer killer out there I haven't found it yet.  Hornady or Remington 200gr round nose bullets at 2400fps and the deer just crumple in a heap.  I also have two of Grice's limited run (300 pcs) 7600's in .35 Remington and .300 Savage.  The .35 Remington is a 22" barrel with synthetic stock and the .300 Savage is a 22" barrel
with a beautiful walnut stock.  I hunt with the .35 Remington pump using +P+ handloads pushing the 200gr Hornady FTX bullet to 2404
fps.  Also deadly on deer.  Have not hunted with the .300 Savage pump as I have three others, a Savage 99, Remington 700 Classic and
a 722 from 1949.  I hunt and kill deer with the 722 and the Model 99.

There does not seem a problem for our american friends to get a gun shipped out of Canada to them , but for us to get a barrel shipped or a gun stock worth over a hundred is another story .
A dealer may be able then many times they are faced with the requirement of making a large order before any one from the states would ship . So it might be a 358 barrel for our 7600 might cost more than a new gun . Think getting something from Gracie's for us is only a wet dream.

A 7600 in the 338 Marlin Express cartridge.  That would be an awesome combination.

When do they normally announce their special run?  How big of a pain do you guys think it would be to re-barrel a 30-06 to a 35 whelen?

matt3357,
if you want a pump remington in .35 whelen you don't have to rebarrel, they have them for sale on gunbroker.  www .gunbroker.com . they have pumps and semi-autos on there as well as other action types :)
that 11-pointer was too perty to let you have it - ( dale earnhardt )

Matt,

Whelen is right.  Remington made a fair number of these pumpa in .35 Whelen many years ago.  If you go to a few large gunshows, and look around, you will find one.  Many of them are new in box, because they are regarded as unique.

My primary moose gun is a Rem. 7600 in .35 Whelen.  I stuck a synthetic stock on it for hunting.

I received the Grice's Labor Day Weekend sale paper last week.

The still have the "Cool Blue" 7600's in 7mm-08 and 25-06 left.

They also listed all of the standard cataloged 7600's in wood and plastic offered by Remington.

My guess is that the "blues" did not go over well so I wonder if there will be any special runs at all this year.

I'm still looking for a 300 Savage and a 260 Remington.

And I did not buy a maple stock when they were offered because money was tight that year and I had all of the offered calibers in walnut. But I wish I did.

Time will tell if they come out with something.

I have a small stash of money waiting.

My son has the 30-06 carbine in walnut.

Very handy and good looking gun.

Yeah, it's awesome!  ;)

I didn't care much for the synthetic stock and forearm on the 7600 carbine.  I have and like them on my 11-87.  I wanted wood on the 7600 carbine though.  I can't wait to shoot it.  My wife grabbed me a box or Winchester Super X 165 gr. pointed soft point ammo tonight.

My personal opinion...they should pass on the cosmetics (colored laminates, natural maple, etc.) & focus on some interesting caliber options.

Well I have to agree that the cool blue and the earlier black/gray laminate were very lame.

I do like the maple though.

Calibers I would like to see:

35 Whelen carbine

358 Winchester carbine

300 Savage carbine

260 Remington rifle

And I think it's time to do the 35 Remington carbines again. They are getting hard to find.

It seems that the 6mm Remington's and 257 Roberts sell out quick also.

I called grice's about a week ago. The guy who answered the phone told me the same thing, no 7600 special runs this year that he knew of. 260 Remington would be sweet.

I'd like to see one of the short .338's.  The 338 ME, 338 Federal, or the 338 RCM.  Those would be dandy in the 7600.

Grice's is doing special runs of Remington Model 7's.

Maple stocks in 222 Rem, 244 Rem, 257 Roberts and 250 Savage.

I hope they are not giving up on the 7600's.

Being that I shoot long guns lefty Model 7's don't help me.

I bought one of the "Cool Blue" 7600's in 25-06.

Just as ugly as the gray/black laminate 25-06 that I traded away.

I have not scoped it yet.

I have 7600's in 6mm Rem, 257 Roberts, 25-06 Rem, 7mm-08 Rem, 35 Rem carbine, and 35 Whelen.

My oldest Son has a 7600 30-06 walnut carbine and I'm waiting on a 30-06 synthetic 7600 rifle for the younger one. I bought in NIB on gunbroker for $405.00.

I hope Grice does the 7600's again. 260 Rem, 300 Savage and maybe 222 Rem and 250 Savage.

The 35 carbine's are getting scarce and a 35 Whelen carbine would be a big seller.

But the reality is all I take in the woods is the Whelen and carbine.

The Whelen got a bear in Maine this year and the carbine a spike in NY.

Would you sell that gun?

I have one with 22" barrel with very pretty wood.  Love it!!

How do you find out when Grice does special runs?
