Barrel Upgrade forend Question
« on: May 25, 2011, 06:22:36 AM »
Have a 223 with heavy barrel and synthetic stock that i wish to get an accesory barrel for deer hunting.  Does one have to get a bull barrel such as a 243 or 308 or will a 30-06 barrel work.  If one has to buy a new synthetic fore end, where do you get one?

Your choice is not limited to the "bull barrels" any will/can be fitted.
I use wood forearms, and it's a ones size fit's all situation except for the Ultra Slug Hunter barrels in 12 an 20 gauge.
If the synthetic are differant I'm sure someone will chime in,
Good luck with your choice of barrels.

There are several sources for synthetic furniture, most stock options are listed on the retail parts page in the FAQs, Choate Machine makes all of the factory synthetic stocks, are available direct from them, H&R, Midway and Brownells. Synthetic stocks and forends are also one size fits all as far as barrel contour and what frames they fit, the only difference will be variants in the different styles, they don't make any forends just for bull barrels, there's just less clearance for the heavier contoured barrels.
