As far as I know, Winchester only chambered the .284 in their Mod. 88 (lever) and Mod. 100 (semi auto), and both of these models were discontinued relatively early in their production life. I've shot one in the lever persuasion and it was accurate and reasonably pleasant to shoot. As indicated by ms, the round couldn't reach its full potential because of the Mod. 88/100 magazine length, which was originally designed to accommodate the .308 Win. and .243 Win.. Had Winchester chambered the .284 in their medium length Mod. 70 and loaded the ammo accordingly, It would most probably have given the .280 Rem. a run for it's money.
