Power trimming brass.

As you may know, many trimmers have an option that allows the use of a drill to drive the trimmer or reamer. There are products from Forster and Lyman that convert a drill press into a power trimmer.

Drills and drill presses have many different adjustable speed settings.
I would like to know whether my drill press has a spindle speed suitable for trimming and reaming brass cases.

Please tell me what you consider the optimum, or most recommended spindle speed for a brass trimming operation and the maximum fastest allowable speed, so I might determine if my press has a usable rpm adjustment.

600 to 800 rpm seem to work well for me. At 1000 rpm things get a little busy and unmanageable. I would guess that anything down as low as 3- 400 rpm will work as well because case brass is pretty easy to cut. Rich P

I believe that the Forster conversion piece's instructions recommend a minimum of 250 rpms.
