I heard a while back that the U.S. estimates that Pakistan has approx. 200 nuke wareheads. They ramped up production, concerned about India.
All it would take is 3 or so set the U.S. back to a degree what would be hard to imagine. Even low-yield. Take out center of N.Y. city, L.A., Chicago, and maybe D.C. during a Joint Session.
Political, financial, social, etc. absolute turmoil. It would affect nearly everyone in the U.S., for years.
No mones from U.S. government to retired, disabled. No monies to the States. All banking totally disrupted. Probably Martial Law imposed.
Not something I want to see happen.

Three nukes exploded in the upper atmosphere or in space just above the US would knock out electronics.  This was on the Discovery channel.  about half the vehicles wouldn't operate, especially those not parked in garages or protected from the EMP.  Phones, powerlines, etc, would be off line until manually turned back on and the electronics replaced.  Computer systems would be fried.  For humans it would only be like having an x-ray, but it would fry all microelectronics that weren't protected by a grounded metal cage of some sort, like a grounded metal building.  Nuke material for a dirty bomb or a suitcase size bomb could easlily be smuggled in through our porous southern border with Middle easterners learning Spanish and posing as illegals coming across.
