just killed me a big barr prob 350 or a little bigger took 5 of us to load him up. ive been noticing increased asctivity around my #1 feeder and found some big pig tracks after putting sweet feed down so i decided to do a little hunt tonight it was cold around 34 when i hyeard a loud bellow. i knew i was in luck about 20 min later i hear some crunching of sticks and twigs when i seen this big pigs head poke out i cocked the hammer back on the scoped NEF and hit him square in the shoulder with a 300 gr winchester hollow point droped him in his tracks it did not penetrate all the way through but perfect bullet performanc for a hollow point ive been using these 405 cast that RDNK made me but since ive been deer hunting i used thes pictures coning soon since i switched to the 45-70 i have not had a pig run off this makes pig number 11 with this rifle

Howie, you da man! Keep nailin' those pigs and lettin' us know. A big boar like that would make a good European mount. Did he have good tushes? elenhunting.com has pics. of mounts if you don't know what I mean. Rob

With a bullet that big, I would think you could just throw it at him and knock him out  Way to go!!!!!

this is a truly trophy boar tomorrow i will take him to Tolar ranch tolars son is doing mounts and he will measure them for me he is a barr he was changed the lease adjoining mine trapped a bunch 3 yrs ago and changed them and turned them back loose so that explains his size he looked like he had alot of russian pure black big shouldered and a smaller rump his tail was long and straight with a bush at the end i am going to cut into him tomorrow and try to find my bullet i knoiw when using those 405 cast they went plum through pigs the pigs are really moving in now since most of the people are done hunting deer i am feeding year round and my job is to attempt to rid the lease of Hogs. The more i hunt them the more I realize you cant pattern them i have tried all sort of bait from corn to making a hog mash to the sweet feed i do have to amit that sweet feed on my lease seems to get them coming in more than anything else

these are fasctory winchester 300 gr hollow points i use them mainly for deer hunting as they do an outstanding job on deer and still give complete penetration on hogs It has penetrated the hogs up to the 250 lb class which is about the bulk of wild hogs this is the biggest boar i have shot with the 300 gr hollowpoints i will be going back to my 405 hard cast after deer season for pigs it seems to really do a better job of penetrating i havent recovered a bullet yet with the 405 if it werent for baiting here in East Tx Hogs in my opinion would be nearly impossible they are way harder to hunt then deer i am succesful because i stay in the woods so much attempting to pattern them i am always looking for new sign. the funny thing is when ya think you know when they come in you dont see them for 3-4 days on some of the other ranches they are easier to hunt but on this open land it is so tough because it is so thick nearly impossible for a human to walk through shots are always close unless on a right of way i have placed all my feeders on right of ways and i have stands within 50 yards of every feeder after deer season io am cutting to feeders off so i can get them coming to just 2 feeders

I pay 22.50 a box here after my 10 percent off from wal-mart which is where i work they special order them for me I am just shooting up what i have left when i bought the rifle i bought 4 boxes my friend RDNK has provided me with enough cast bullets and cases and primers to keep me shooting pigs for awhile i also met another guy through here named mike who lives close to me whgo made me up some with the 350 gr flat nose fmj i reloaded some of those 405 cast with IMR 3031 they are not fast but they do the job on pigs Me and redneck when he came hunting with me shot a tree and it pentrated over 24 inches of the tree when we dug it out of the second tree the bullet wa intact with minor damage
