10mm
« on: May 30, 2011, 05:44:29 PM »
I picked up a glock 20 this weekend  and I plan on reloading for the 10mm ( kinda have to). I was just wondering if anyone had any pet loads or hunting loads for the 10mm?

It's been a while since I loaded any full power loads for the 10mm. I believe I used Gold Dot HPs and Blue Dot for those loads. It was using published data from Alliant, There's lot's of good reliable load data out there from the powder manufacturers.

Yeah  I planned on using blue dot and was going to start with 180's don't know what brand/style bullet yet.  Blue dot seems to give the highest velocity for the lowest pessure.  This is something my cousin and I are doig together he bought the glock 20sf and I couldn't find a SF anywheres so I got a normal 20. Since I load for 40sw already and use it in my 3 gun competitions. I'll mostly be loading the 10mm to the upper end of it's spectrum.

You may want to review the loads published by Brian Pearce in the June 2008 edition of Handloader magazine. Also the 180 and 200 grain Hornady XTP bullets run good in my Glock 29. Montana Gold also makes a real good 200 grain FMJ that can be used to duplicate the original Norma loadings. Both Double Tap and Buffalo Bore are loading the MG FMJ in their 200 grain 10mm loadings.

I've done my first reload for the 10mm, the only bullet I could get my hands on the was the 155gr XTP  I used 12.6 grains of blue dot. I got out to the range long enough to chrono 5 rounds  no over pressure signs and I'm getting a average of 1397 of the 5 roud. I hope to get out tomorrow to see how they group.

That is what I was loading for a friend of mine.  I like the Blue dot load for two reasons.  1 I already use it for 44 Mag, 10 ga, 12, gan and some 20 ga hunting loads.  Iwas using the Berry's plated bullets nad like them very much.  Also load them for 44 and 45 ACP.
2- is if you accidentally double charge the 10mm it will spill out of the case letting you know something is wrong.
So far I have seen three really nice guns ruined by an oops double charge.  One a Colt SAA 2nd Gen in 45 Colt that the owner used as small of a charge as possible and was distracted while loading and double charged just one.  That was all it took.

I really liked that 200gr MG FMJ with AA #9 for 1250fps.

I'm using the 200gr hornady bullets over blue dot.  Accurate and very powerful.  I love my 20SF.

Nosler has a 200 grain JHP 10mm bullet in their Sporting Handgun line. One more good option for full power loads.
