I even priced orthopedic shoulder braces and practiced writing wrong handed.
So I took my 45-70 to the range finally. Girded my loins. Slinged it correctly and firmly against my shoulder for an off hand shot first. Breathed deeply and relaxed. Focused... I pulled the trigger... Huh...?
Maybe it was a dud... no, the case ejected empty, the bore was clear and there was a hole in the target. So I loaded another. Relaxed, pulled the trigger. Another hole right next to the first. And then a third right next to the first two. And then...
+ THE LIGHT +
It's so clear... I understand now <
45-70> YES.!!!
Well, I admit it was Rem. factory 405 ammo. I did have a recoil pad and had filled the stock with lead shot. But I'd planned on more 'effect'. On having to save this gun for those times when I had gathered my courage and prayed unceasingly.
Yes it jumped, yes it pushed my shoulder back. And it made a
very satisfying boom... and nice big holes in the paper, all close together.
So I shot up two and a half boxes just for the fun of it. This gun likes factory 405s. It likes Marlin level loaded 405s. It does NOT like HHP 300s.
It's FUN.
Thanks all, especially fellow Texan 'frgerald' for selling it to me... Be Well...
