Night fishing
« on: June 03, 2011, 02:41:25 PM »
Went out under the black light last weekend.  Fished a Texas rigged 7" plastic worm and a spinner bait cranked slow off the bottom.  I've got to say it was not a productive night.

Anyone catching any fish?

I always enjoyed those hot muggy nights, throwing black single spins at the bank. We would use the electric motor and just go along about 30 feet off shore, slow as possible.

Haven`t been night fishing in several years. It can be exciting though!
One night we were at Lake D`arrebone ( Sp?) in Louisiana and were using the old "Hula Popper". It was tense at times as you cast the lure through the cypress trees and hoping you would here that satisfying "kerplunk" as the bait landed safely on the water instead of wrapped around a tree limb. We caught several largemouth bass. Also to add to the nights entertainment there were fish that would jump out of the water and several would land in our boat or our lap! really got your attention with a fish flopping around in your lap in the dark! I believe they were shad. Then of course the cottonmouths were always to be considered as they sometimes would try to get in the boat while you are fishing and fighting off the hoardes of mosquitoes!

Went out last night.  It was a very comfortable night on the lake, but the fishing was slow.  Caught one bass in 5 feet of water on a spinner bait around 11pm.  Caught 2 more in 20 feet of water on a 7" red plastic worm at 2am.   Came home at 3:30.

Not a great night for fish, but a pleasant night on the lake.
