Anyone use this?  I'm thinking about getting some for the .45-70 I haven't bought yet.  ;)

I got some to use in my 45-120.  What little experience I had with it consisted of modest but accurate loads; 405 gr. jacketed @ 2000 fps.  I like it well enough to try it in other cartridges when I get the chance.  Especially for reduced loads.

I shoot it out of a savage ML. 250 gr. XTP,MMP sabot. Lots of dead deer behind this load.

It is really made to use with cast bullets. I used it some in my 45-70 with a Lyman 405 cast and 28 grs and it does around 1400 fps. A 100 yards will shoot ragged hole groups out of my sharps off the bench. I did not find a deer that could stop one of the bullets. Complete pass through even from chest out the backside. That is about the same velocity that 70 grs FFG will give you with that bullet.

It's a great cast bullet powder. It's quite useful at duplicating blackpowder velocities, and provides accuracy almost on par with blackpowder, but not quite as good as the real thing.

This is now my "go to" powder for all my rifle loads....  Very consistent over both reduced and full loads.....

One thing note worthy is, it burns a little dirty. There will be what looks like unburnt grains left in the barrel but they have burnt and this residue does not effect accuracy. This powder is not position sensitive either. It does not matter if the powder is up at the bullet or back at the primer it lights the same.

That's good news guys. The was powder recommended to my by the staff ballistician at Accurate when I sent him an e-mail with the parameters I want. I told him I was looking to fire a 405 cast at around 1100-1200 FPS, so he recommended that powder & some loads.
24.3 gr are supposed to give me 1225-1325 FPS, and 27 gr are supposed to give me 1300-1375. This numbers are based on a 24" barrel.
However, I realize the the staff ballistician might be just a little bit biased regarding the effectiveness of his product, so I thought I'd get some feedback from some folks that have actually used. And as usual, GBO has provided me with the info I need.

I completely agree!!!!  Ihave burned up a half a doz pounds in my handis!! It's a nice bulky powder well suited to large cases like the 500, 444 and of coarse the 45/70.

Give it a try, I think you will like it!!

How does it meter out of a powder dispenser? I've used Trail Boss out of my RCBS and it didn't meter consistantly at all.

I have more trouble with it getting hung up in the funnel than the measure, especially on smaller cases like the 30-30.

It works well behind 260 grain gas checked cast bullets in a 35 Whelen. It's a bit dirty and sometimes wants to clog up in the drop tube of the powder measure. I tap the measure on every round to make sure all the powder gets dumped and carefully check every round to make sure it didn't happen.
