Yep, yesterday I almost got my first deer of the season. Of course, I wasn't hunting. And I was at work. In fact, I nearly hit it with my semi-truck! :eek:  There were about four of us headed out going toward Nashville. The driver behind me was jabbering away on the C.B. when he suddenly yelled that a deer had nearly ran smack dab into my trailer! It jumped back, nearly stepped in front of HIS truck, then got smart and ran back into the woods. Dang suicidal deer! It figures. I can sit in the woods and freeze my butt off and not see a thing. But a three o'clock in the morning they are just a waitin' to jump out in front of me! :-D

Holiday, you do know that there is no such thing as 1 deer crossing the road, don't you?  The others have already crossed or are still waiting to commit mass suicide.

Butler, you hit the nail on the head! Our drivers have hit half a dozen deer this year! Just last week, one driver hit one and three more were ready to jump out! Must be something about big, white trucks that attract deer. Hmmm, I might have just hit on a new way to hunt!  :-D What do ya think, can I mount a stand on the hood!  :)

We lost our long-time EMS director this week because of a deer.  He was returning home after dark and ran into one, causing his full-size pickup to veer off the pavement into an embankment.  Some loose item behind the front seat struck him in the back of the neck, causing severe spinal cord injury, and ultimately his death.  Very ironic, since he survived a couple of RVN tours as a chopper pilot.

Those deer can definitely be a hazard.

Well, if it will make anyone feel any better, I've been doing my part to cut the rate of deer/vehicle accidents down.

Got one yesterday with my .45 Remmie, a doe, from about 20 yards. Perfect head shot! :-D

Got three more tags to fill...gotta go git some more now, only got a week and a half left to hunt this season.
