Darn bear still in my 'hood! - Now With Vidio!
« on: June 08, 2011, 10:36:33 AM »
From The Cobb County "Patch:"

"A black bear is making itself at home around Embry Lane in Northeast Cobb. WSB-TV has video of the bear, which Department of Natural Resources officials don't plan to trap; they expect the bear to move on when its food supply runs out. Whether it will head into East Cobb, Kennesaw or the wilds of Cherokee County next, we don't know. But as they always said in the Yogi Bear cartoons, if you do see it, please don't feed the bear."

My Great Pyrenees would LOVE to see a bear in our back yard!   ;D

I dunno...  :-\  Coyotes get most of the cats and little dogs 'round here...  Must not be a lot of food.  There seems to be more and more of them wandering into the populated areas here-bouts but they don't stay long or get killed.

Here's the vidio:

We are on "Joel Dr." the road that runs parallel to Embry. This explains my Lab "going off in the middle of the night" as of late.

He never growls and seldom barks but has been very audible lately for unspecified reasons, each time he has gone off, it has been convincing enough for me to go outside and check it out. Nothing has been seen as of yet to explain his actions.

Interesting as we are not strangers to Bears, we have them in Ball Ground around the other house but never really thought they would be located in this area.

FWIW, this immediate area has some very large hills and larger than normal wooded areas in immediate proximity.

Cool Story and regards to the forum members.

Heck yes it does!  If this critter made it over to Kennesaw Mtn. and the National Battlefield it could live out it's life and have plenty of area to roam around in!   ;D

You still in Cherokee County or have you moved to Kennesaw?   :-\

I have 2 family residences in the city of Ball Ground and we have a Father In Law that is a stroke patient and needs daily care in the Marietta location adjacent to Embry Lane.

I love the forum, I just read much more than posting.

Was nice to have met a fellow shooter nearby.
