Change in Illinois law??
« on: June 09, 2011, 04:52:27 PM »
Mom gave me a news article from the Effingham daily news. It told about an Indiana man who sued after his arrest in 2005 for having his gun in his car. The man had a ccw and the judge rulled that the console  was indeed a case. After I saw that I got mine back out of the locked trunk and put it in my console. Anybody have the specifics on this?? POWDERMAN.  ??? ???

As long as the firearm is unloaded and in a "case", you are good to go here. IL will not honor a non residence ccw permit.

I am happy for the guy but believe that he may have been pushing it a bit in the eyes of most LE officers.

GLANCEBLAM. Thanks, but an unloaded gun in a case, or console, is no more use to me than one in the trunk. I guess they still see me as a criminal. POWDERMAN.  :( :(

that's the kind of nonsense that kept me from retiring back home to Johnson county.
I love southern Ill. but it's a communist state.

There has been some type of change that has been dictated by a court ruling.I read something about it several months ago, but the article didn't go into any detail. It has something to do with the drivers immediate access to the weapon.Almost all of our firearms laws are dictated by the politicans from the Chicago area.Their representation is based on population instead of area size so they have many while downstate has few.

What a depressing statement.  It does however reflect the browbeaten attitudes of most Illinois residents.  Too many have come to fear their communist oppressors in the form of police and lawmakers.  The man should be hailed and respected as an individual willing to stand up for right regardless of idiotic laws.  He beat the oppressors at their own game.

I believe I read an article about this in the guns save lives paper.

Here's a link to their site but I don't have the time to search all the papers to find the article.

If the State does not accept my Concealed Carry Permit, I am not going there.  Guess I won't be seeing Illinois any time soon. (Only been there once, passing through and saw nothing to go back for anyway).  I'll visit Tennessee, and Florida.  Happy there.

Here in Alaska nobody needs a permit to carry concealed or open.  I carry, the wife carries, and so does our son.  My son has carried a pistol on his hip, or under his arm,  since he was 12, it's a way of life with him.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I seriously doubt it, it might be a threat to the BGS. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

I live in Illinois and have an Iowa ccw. They don't honor that here either, but at least I can carry when I go to Indiana. ::)

GRIMJIM. I sent your wonderful govornor an email. I gave him my name, address, SS #, phone #, etc. I told him that I had a ccw in KY that was good most of the United States. I told him that I had been thoroughly trained  in all types of firearms and had been a shooter well over 55 + years. I had been investigated by the fbi, Ky State police, and local police to obtain my license. I told him I wanted him to do the same with his state police. Then after he found that I was what I said I was that I wanted him to explain to me why I was treated like a criminal and had to disarm myself as soon as I crossed the state line. YEP, no reply. If I didn't have family there I'd never venture into the commie state. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
