The Price of Freedom
« on: June 10, 2011, 07:40:44 AM »
The cost in lives cannot be measured obviously but think about this for a moment. Thomas Jefferson thought a country should have a revolution every 20 years to keep the government honest. Now when you think about the economics of it maybe this is one case where he was wrong. Since a nation relies on a global market for economic growth who would do buisiness with a country in a semi constant state of revolution. Who would invest in the country's infra structure knowing it was going to be bombed every few years. How many technological advances we enjoy would not be here becuase of the constant sate of war.

A perfect example of the economic stunting is the middle east. With all the revolutions and government replacing they are suffering even more economic hardships. Create a revolution then hold your hand out begging for money and food. Look at Egypt for example.
Just a thought about the constant state of turmoil.

Indeed freedom does have a very expensive price.

one nation under god with liberty and justice for all. did we alway achieve that high goal..no
but i can t think of another time in history that would have been better ..
change is constant,so i fear the great experiment may mostly be over..
let us both hope that this ole fart is dead wrong.

Give me liberty, or give me death

Well, we had one Nov 2008.
If we're lucky, we'll get another and President Paul can see to things.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Regardless, what is needed is a stable government that has the confidence of the people.
Winning the confidence of the people is no easy matter. A shift back to America first would be nice IMHO. I think America does need to project power abroad but we need to stay out of other countries business.
