40 grain standard velocity at 300 yards
« on: June 10, 2011, 02:07:41 PM »
I thought it would make for interesting conversation showing what I found at my 300 yard steel gong.  I have a great time shooting .22lr out to 300 yards at a 15" gong.  When I went down to the gong to paint it I decided to pick up a bit around the impact area.  I picked up the splatter from the Federal standard velocity rounds and this is what I found lots of. I found it interesting what the little 40 grain round nosed bullets still do at 300 yards when hitting steel.  The gong is mighty pecked up and shreads the .22 lr bullets but were they had hit a flat spot they flattened out real nice. Just thought it was interesting to look at.

I agree, I like to shoot way out there too.  ;D that's why the box says warning 1 mile. Those little pills will go a ways but of course don't have much oomph left.
