MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin’s largest teachers union has no organized plans to protest next week when the Legislature debates a state budget that cuts public education aid by $800 million.

Wisconsin Education Association Council President Mary Bell said Thursday that plans for an organized protest could change, but there are none at the moment.

Even though the school year ends this week, Bell says many teachers already have plans to be working other part-time jobs or going back to school next week and wouldn’t be able to make it to the Capitol for budget debate. Could it be they are not allowed to miss work at their second job or that they paid for their own schooling and now that they can't stick it to the taxpayers wallet to attend protests like they did this past spring, protesting is not as important now?

Thousands of teachers protested in Madison in February over Gov. Scott Walker’s proposal taking away most of their collective bargaining rights. That measure is tied up in the courts and may be inserted in the budget next week. Looks like they'll have to wait till this fall when school starts to protest so the taxpayers can pay for it. But then again the rent-a-mob zombies can protest for them. What an easy group to figure out, and here all the time they were supposed to be the higher educated ones

Could it be they saw that any public support for them is over. Of coarse what the tax payers thought never mattered to them before.
One of their favorite lines is "We want what is best for the students". Funny how they consider more money and benefits for them, as being whats best for the students.

Yuup, Even at the expense of the students. Funny thing is, the few unionized teachers that we do know here in our very rural area of Cheeseville are to the point where they are embarrassed about their wages and benefits being made public, and the fact that after these sums of money were put in the spotlight, many citizens commented on the fact they didn't think they made that high of a salary. This alienated the public to the cause of the unionized employees. Kinda the unionized public employees singing to the unionized public employees chior.
