Say what?
« on: June 11, 2011, 03:18:05 AM »
Hey, something's wrong here. Listening to a lot of you guys a fellow would think almost all Americans hate health care reform.  It ain't so!

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/10/opinion/10fri4.html?emc=eta1

Of course, you can't believe a newspaper.  To gauge the opinion of America read a gun forum, right?

Isn't the N.Y. Times the newspaper whose reporters have been caught writing and publishing fiction in the guise of fact?

I guess I missed the in depth analysis that showed the financial viability of the Mass. plan and who gets stuck for the bill.  How much of the plan is based on wealth transfer.  I didn't see where the article talked about how the average waiting time for appointments has more than doubled.   Even Mitt Romney, who is given credit as the architect of the plan, says that it is not sustainable.

My theory has long been that you can make a bad plan work if you throw enough money at it, but it's still a bad plan.  I also subscribe to the axiom of why try to fix something that isn't broken.  The fact that medical insurance is expensive doesn't mean the system is broken, it means that doctors and hospitals etc. don't come cheap and nothing that any government does is going to change all of that.  Well actually there is something that government could do.  Get rid of the illegals that come here and get free health care and to some extent, free loading by legals could be curtailed.

UHHHH...That poll was for the Massachusetts plan and NOT for Obamacare.  That poll was of Massachusetts residents and I would opine it was taken heavily weighted to the boston metro area..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  Lets go to a national poll on Obamanation care, taken by a very reliable pollster.  Note; how many not asking fopr a rerpair of the bill, but are asking for a complete repeal of it:
   http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/healthcare/health_care_law
  The figures are 54% say repeal; 39% say don't repeal.  Although there may be many in the don't repeal group who would like repairs, still that smaller group is probably primarily the usual "gimme" parasites...
The people who should know best — residents of Massachusetts....
This sentence at the beginning of the article made me laugh. That must be the same people that voted Ted Kennedy into office all those years, and we are to believe what they have to say on health care, because they know best.  Now thats funny.
Did you read any newspapers during the last year of GWB's term?  If you did, then surely you know the USA was about to enter Great Depression #2.  That's a fact, not "half baked nonsense."
When GWB left office gas was $1.83 per gallon, now it is $3.86 per gallon (nat avg).. both BHO and his energy secy Mr Chu,  said we (Americans) must start paying for gas, what the socialist countries of Europe do.
   When GWB was pres, I could get the big can of Coffee for about $5.95, now it's $10.95.  Even a basic McDonald's meal was about $3.70...now it's about $6.00.  You don't have to go into reports or 'stats' for that; we can see the difference for ourselves every day !  OPf course, the Obama's don't know about McDonalds or what the big can of coffee costs, they're putting their meals and lavish parties for rap singers and revolutionaries... on OUR tab.
   It's just B. Hussein's way of "spreading the wealth around" !  The wealth USA used to have; being spread to China, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Libya, Egypt and all the others he feels are more deserving than we.. >:(
I wonder why GWB STARTED a massive bailout program near the end of his last year in office?  It wasn't to prevent an economic collaspe, huh?  So why do you blame Obama for things which started on GWB's watch?
when the idiot-in-chief was sworn in, everything from that point was his.
GWB was between a rock and a hard place. he was dealing with bad policy put in place by kennedy and his gang of theives.  fannie mae and freddy mac was nothing more than a plan to buy votes.
I don't give GWB a free ride. his "no child left behind" was the stupidest thing he ever did.
No, "regime change" was the stupidest thing he ever did.  In fact, it was the stupidest thing any president ever did.
Junior, you seem to conveniently forget that the Dumycrats were totally in charge of the Congress from 2007 on.  President Bush tried to make changes, but the Dumycrat Congress let GWB know that anything that came from the White House was dead on arrival.
Read the post to which I replied.  To spell it out for you, why didn't Bush veto congress's spending bills?  Answer: (1) Rumsfeld & Cheney said no.  It might cause problems with their regime change war. (2) He was on vacation in Crawford.  (3) He thought his tax cuts for billionaires  would offset any economic problems caused by wasteful spending.  (4) See #2.
Is it all clear now?
Clear as mud, junior.  The post spoke about the demonrats letting Bush know that anything he tried to do would be dead on arrival, and then you asked about his veto power.  That makes no sense.  How could he veto their refusal to consider anything he tried?  Does that clear it up for you?   ::)
