I installed a Mauser 338/06 in a Hogue stock with the full length aluminum bedding block, it shot groups in the .6 tenths inch range at 100 yards so I didn't bother to glas bed it. If I work on any more full length bedding block stocks I will skim bed it the length of the action and for the first two inches of the barrel in front of the receiver.
Another release agent that works is paste floor wax, but I still perfer Brownells release agent brushed on with at least two coats before installing the glas bedding material.
At the least Swampman did admit that factory stocks need a little help in the bedding area with his post.
I do like his Talley scope base/ring combo's on the Remington, I have put a set on an Enfield P14 Action for a big boomer, but modified to use 8-40 mounting screws vs 6-48 screws. This is as strong and streamlined with full loading port access that you can get. I like the ability to single load in a pinch and one piece scope mounts get in the way.
