There is no excuse for this, but I do have a couple of questions....

Why was Aquadea letting little Shamarra and young Ayejhanay play out in the street at 11pm unsupervised?  At 10 and 11 years old...

No reason for them being out at that hour, especially in the city. Also sounds like they may have known they were bothering the neighbor intentionally. Mothers to blame too. POWDERMAN.

Thank God the little girl is okay. Anyone here have daughters? Imagine how you might feel is someone shot your little girl.

Glad she is ok first of all. That said, "Playing in the neighbors yard at 11pm?" "Accidentally bumped into the car, then ran away?" The guy was ready with the gun. Just MAYBE that isnt quite the story. Sounds like someone breaking into a car that the owner had already had problems with theft from. The "accident" was making enough noise to alert the owner of the car! If the kids were playing in the yard they would have already made enough noise for the guy to know it was just kids and most likely HE would have been the one to call the police/social services to find out why in the world they were out and on his property at that hour in the first place!! No one however "crusty" is gonna open fire on 10/11 yr. old little girls for no reason. There is more to that story than whats been told, and most likely ever will be told. Taught to lie cheat and steal from the time they can walk/talk and when bad things happen it's everyone elses fault EXCEPT THEIRS AND THEIR PARENTS!!!!! Say what you want, but the bars on the windows and alarms on the cars arent there because they are concerned about me coming over from across town, they are there because they know it's their own neighbors that want to prey on them! Won't hear that side though. Not "Politically Correct"!

There is no excuse for this.   I spend a lot of time, (scouts, etc. )) trying to structure activities for children to keep them from such, but I don't have anything in my yard worth a child's life or health.

If the man was that irritated, this would be a GOOD time to call 911.

Lets keep in mind that it was 11pm. Looking at the link, it appeared to be pretty dark, so I doubt that the guy knew that he was shooting at a child at all. We all know about "knowing your target" and whatnot, but that wasnt the point I made. Whether the theif was 11 or 50, it was still criminal activity that will never be adressed because of the media slant. The fact that it WAS someone so young breaking into cars late at night is a point in itself now isnt it? Again, place all the blame on the victim (dumb as HE WAS to shoot blindly) so the perpetrator goes on to do it again. Find out the names of those kids, then pay attention to the police blotter over the next few years and see if they dont show up again. Or mom/dad. Sound like a bet you wana take? Not if your smart it doesent. How about print the kids then dust the inside of that car, then others in the area, (Ill bet my favorite rifle there are more), and see what you come up with.

i  agree with charging  the man

the  tresspassers  should  also be charged

dis-respect  for property rights  is the MAJOR  cause of this almost tragedy

had he had a bigger gun..he may have taught a better lesson  since the parrent didn't teach them

to  let those kids  get away with what they  did  will  lead to  more  violence

Call me heartless, but she got what she deserved. Maybe she will think twice before unlawfully entering someone else's property uninvited.  It is a shame that they are pressing charges against the man.  He was defending his property, and well within his rights to shoot at intruders.  Is it his fault that the invaders were kids? NOPE! 
This is a parenting fail, and I believe he had every right to take action to defend his property.  Who in their right mind would expect kids to be out at that time of night anyway.  Let ANYONE be in our yard that late at night uninvited, and I will be grateful that I live in a state with the Castle Doctrine, and will be well within my rights to shoot!
