Shot My Scout .44 Mag Today
«
on:

Took the Scout to the range today and tried several different loads. The 240 gr. JHP shot well, which was no surprise, but my Ranch Dog 265 gr. gas checked rounds shot very well, just making a ragged hole at 50 yards.
Looking forward to getting it out to a 100 yard range.

I reamed mine to 445 supermag, took some old handloads, and shot them at48 yds. and the 265 gr.Hornadys were touching with 3 shots 1" high .I said thats good enough for and went hog huntin. Digger

Ditchdigger,
Do you know if all scouts are built on the same frames? I thought about reaming mine but didn't know if there was a frame issue like you have with the Handi rifles.

I keep hearing from those who have the CVA Scout and now I will have to have one. Thanks a Lot! Think I want a 44 mag myself, then a 35 Whelen and then, see what I mean the sickness never stops.
I am a single shot junkie anyhow.
For the price you can't go to wrong and I am an older man and need a light rifle to carry (good excuse).

Hey, Freightman,
I think that you'll like the Scouts. I've owned Handi rifles, and I still have a .357 that I reamed to a maximum, but I like the Scout better than the .44 Handi that I owned.
