Just in time for a 45/70 Father's day!
« on: June 16, 2011, 06:06:34 PM »
Just thought I would share my good blessing with you all.  Found this 45/70 Ultra hunter from an individual for $275, I think I did good! ;)

Can't hardly wait to load up a few and try her out.

Just got one of those myself a little bit ago Shot an 1 1/2" @ 100 yards with 405gr rem. It didn't like the Hornady LE's at all. I swapped the TH stock for cin lams. The TH stock didn't feel like it would be good for still hunting. Awsome price on yours!

You must have asked for it was given unto you.  I'm a lefty so I have to make due with the 'regular' stocks.  But I've always wanted to try those beautiful thumbholes.  Good for you.

I really like 45-70 even though I got a late start.  Mine's accurate with factory and Marlin level loads... 405g bullets only.  Didn't like 300 HPs but it was hot, so maybe Texas temperature caused inaccuracy.

Figure mine w/22" bbl will do anything I need.  Just got 350 - 405g JFPs off cast boolits forum, so it's reloading time.  Only have 40 cases though and Varget.  maybe get some 4198 next week.  Have fun.

Happy Dad Day.  I have daughters.  Be well...
