A Couple of my Single Shots
« on: June 17, 2011, 06:20:39 PM »
Here are a couple of my single shots (I hope). The first one should be my 71 Mauser single shot bolt action in 43 Mauser. This was made in 1877 in Bavaria. Bore is smooth and shiny. Cases are Bertram at about $4 a piece. The bullet I shoot is a Lyman 346gr casts at .446", but my bore is .457". The chamber won't allow a bullet larger than .450" to be loaded.

The second one is my Swedish Rolling Block made in 1876. It was rebarreled in 1891 to 8 X 58DR by the Danish government, then sold to the public. Bore is also smooth and shiny. I have 2 cast bullets I shoot in this, a 170gr Lyman Loverin and a 238gr Lee Karabiner.  Cases are stretched and reformed 45-70 by Buffalo Arms. I will make any additional cases from 45-90. 45-70 can be used but without stretching them the necks are about 1/4" or so short.

Been working on the loads for the Rolling Block. With the Lee Karabiner 236gr cast bullet and 22grs of SR4759 it is grouping consistently 2" at 100 yards. Probably the limiting factor here is the iron sights and my old eyes.

Been complemplating the addition of a scope.
