How The States Got Their Shapes.
« on: June 18, 2011, 12:43:06 PM »
Anyone else see the documentary on how the states got their shapes. I found it really interesting and informative. How many here knew about how some of the southern states were actually partitions off of some of the others. If you haven't seen it- it's worth watching.

I've watched it a few times.
There's been some good info on it.

We are History Channel junkies. My boys loved it!  It is interesting to see how our country was shaped.

The beauty of watching the history channel with the boys is being able to research ideas and give my children differing opinions on the accuracy of certain information.  Thanks Slim and you have a great day as well!

I have not seen that show, but would be interested in watching it.  The wife and I had a conversation a couple of nights ago about how certain states got their boundaries.  I pointed out how some sides of some states are on a latitude or a longitude line.  Then the other side will be a river, or a mountain range divide.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Man, was I out in left field.  I was thinking about the physical shapes of the states, not their cultural make-up.  Rog
