Trouble with my Woodsman
« on: June 19, 2011, 02:39:22 AM »
I have a Colt Woodsman second series with the push button magazine release. I have three magazines for it, two aftermarket and one original and they all do the same thing that is,,,, they shoot fine until you get to the last round and then the slide stays back like it should AFTER you fire the last round. I've had the grips  off of it and it looks like the slide stop is actuated by the magazine spring button, but I have not figured out how to alter it to make it work properly. Has anyone experienced this same problem and if so, what did you do to correct it? Is there a pistol smith out there that specializes in these pistols? Thanks.       RRM

Sounds like the last round is coming up too high in the magazine therefore allowing the loading button to raise up too far.   My guess is the feed lips on the mags are worn a little.   Try carefully tweaking the lips of the magazines together with a pair of needle nose pliers.

Thanks Brett, makes sense. I'll give it a try.    RRM
