I didn't see another post so here's an update. The guy arrested near the Pentagon was Yonathan Melaku, an Ethiopian with a decidedly Mohammedan look. He was a Marine Reserve Lance Corporal, a vehicle driver in an Engineer battalion, got a few decorations that sound pretty routine. A search of his home turned up more bomb supplies and jihadist literature. Ballistic evidence indicates it was him who was driving around the DC area last winter shooting at military buildings. He left 9 m/m pock marks on the Pentagon, some recruiting stations and the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico, which he hit on two occasions.
There was some coverage on TV last night - FBI and US Attorney types talking about the evidence and what charges he will face. It was interesting how they all sidestepped any mention of accomplices or motive, although I guess it's pretty obvious. He may well have been a lone crank - certainly not as deadly as the Ft Hood shooter. His drive-bys were all at night and no one was hurt. Also no talk of profiling in the US military, where a certain number of Muslims do serve and recruiting targets are always hard to meet.
