Well Hi Y'all
,
For being off so long,an adventure in the making.
It's good to be back.
In February,we had a shock of our lives;some was predicted, some good,
but not good at all.
Rosie hasn't walked since January 25.
Early February, she was told she has inoperable cancer.
Was a good thing I was being stalled for some reason.
surgeon walked in and said nonchalantly,"You have 2 weeks.".
We both lost it.
You see, Rosie and I have been together for over 20 1/2 years.
We've had several tell us, we were made for each other.
Long story short,we were married March 26 by Community Hospice Chaplain Scott. A good thing.
And since being off line, have had a few hospital visits.
Some were "You are going to be next.",and "Yeah,I'll have my own meds.".
We didn't know how close to the predictions we will be coming to.
Rosie has been begging me to see a doctor for years.I made sure she went to her appointments, got her meds, etc.Considered myself not that important.
A few told me, if you don't take care of you,how do you expect to take care of her ?
April 7,morning I got up.My right side wasn't working right.
Got dressed, went and started the coffee.Told my wife Rosie that I think I had a stroke.
Her son checked me out.He had seen "Stroke's No joke" the previous night.
He asked about the troops called in.
I said "Yes".
"Dial-A-Prayer 911" called. Ambulance and FD was there.I told them how I felt.
Taken to ER.Yep,had a mini stroke. And a blood workup was done.
Shock next; "Did you know you had diabetes ?" "No".
I've been wanting to get my medical records updated for Social Security Disability.
Little did I know how fast things were going.(and still zooming along)
My application for the county's Medically Indigent Adult (M.I.A.) program was rushed for approval in 2 hours, since being in the hospital.
And, while there,I requested "the patch". Been a smoker for 40 years.Took about 3 maybe 4 patches.Haven't really missed smoking.Knew it had to be done this year.Been slowing down since we brought home Rosie.Down to about 3 to 6 a day, then 3 a night....
She has wanted me to quit. She did many years ago.
Anyway, now have my own meds, insulin, syringes, the meter, test strips all paid for by the county.
I look at it this way,I worked and paid my taxes into this state for over 33 years. Now,my taxes are helping me.
Came home April 12.
I am no longer with the In Home Supportive Services. That ended April 6,but got paid for 6 hours.
(I was paid by how many hours it takes, usually set by the case worker.I was paid around $9.47
an hour,for 1 hour a day-usually.No weekend or holiday pay,just straight pay.)
I told Rosie that I'd do what I can to help her,pay or no pay.
June 10,had surgery,for neurofibromas,cylindromas,turban tumors,and a couple other names.
With a cancer removal and a suspected cancer.Waiting for the pathology report.
I look like Yul Brenner and Frankenstein.
The plastic surgeon I've known for a few years, got aggressive to remove these things.
As,all takes many years to grow, and do mimic cancers.Plus, all are genetic. Can skip in the family.
Anyway, the good Lord is watching over us.
When I got back online, did an SSA for their "blue book",to see if anything like the mini stroke could be used in my SSD case.Well,on 6-07-11,diabetes was added. It covers Types 1 and 2 diabetes.
You talk about surprised !
As,I was denied twice already.
On July 19,at 10:30AM,I see the ALJ in Stockton,CA for my Social Security Disability hearing.
You guys have a good week.
Richard
