No, That's the V-Max bullet. The A-Max is fine for deer. I make mostly Head/Neck shots because the weatherby is so fast I don't just poke holes through them.

QuoteNo, That's the V-Max bullet. The A-Max is fine for deer. The A-Max is a thin jacket target bullet, and the core is not bonded or physically locked to the jacket. At the 300 Weatherby velocities, the bullet will probably come apart on impact with an animal. I use Hornady's Interbonds and get excellent accuracy and performance. Good luck with your hunts.

I gather you have another 300Wby since you just found a load for this one "I have finely found a load for my 3oo weatherby Mark V deluxe. 178 gr. Hornaday A-Max and 88gr. of H1000 it will put 3 shots in a 1/4 in. at 100 yards. I have a Burris 4-10 on it. Me and my Bro. have a matching pair down to the scope. Our grand pap bought them for us on the days we where born. I plan on killing something with it this fall. So he has the memory to share with us"
We have used them out of many 30 cals. and they have did just fine. I am going to try Swift Sciroccos yet and see how they do.

Someday you might come across a buck that you would like mounted, and a destructive neck shot will make a taxidermist's job a bit more difficult.
