I have a bone to pick with Mr. Ruger

Yesterday I was walking the goat/cow pasture for groundhogs when the upper part of the sling came unraveled and fell off :( So I walked back to the house and I got a giant piece of cardboard. I shoot a 3 shot group went down and looked. A foot high. So I make some adjustments I shoot again 10 inches high. and this goes on for all 60 rounds I had with me. So I called my dad and he is coming over to spend the night so i told him to bring me a third brick of 22 mag. shells. I am at 4 inches high now and I am going to need every last little bit of elevation that scope has. But the whole point of this is I hate the sling design on the Rugers other then that I love them.

You're a day late and a dollar short. Bill Ruger is dead. Maybe you can talk to him via a medium. Oh wait that show went off the air. Yew jist outta luck.  :o

Actually, he's just two weeks short of 9 years too late.   Unraveled?   Does that mean a nylon sling?   Since I can't picture what happened from your scant description, it sounds more like a not checking your equipment before the hunt kind of problem.     ;)

  How is the sling attachment Bill Ruger's design flaw?       Just me, but I've never seen a good leather sling unravel. ;)    Cheap nylon...well it's cheap. :D

Maybe you should re-mount the scope or better yet try a different scope--make sure all the screws in the rifle are tight and start again fresh.

sounds to me like the scope tube (internal one that holds the cross hairs) is damaged.

To me it sounds like one of those cheap factory ruger slings that loop back into itself. More like a nylon strap than anything. Those things are best reserved for the trash imho.  ;)

It is partly my fault I left the cheap sling on but the scope is toast .

He's probably just turning in his grave right now with the direction Ruger has taken after his passing.

cant see where those built in front sling attachments would were or break a sling any faster then a regular sling swivel.
