We are observing..
« on: June 25, 2011, 06:34:52 AM »
  This generation is observing the descent into the maelstrom of perhaps the greatest nation ever. :-\ :'( :'(
      The decline (IMO) started in the late 1900s(correction; late 19th century) with the spread of Communist & Fabian Socialist notions.  In the 1960s the whole movement received great impetus from the unrest caused by the dissatisfaction of a much pampered and spoiled generation, who were actually being USED BY the Fabians.
  The power of this sinistrer world movement was (IMO) boosted exponentially, by the election of Soros as shadow president, working his puppet who holds that office.
  A symptom of that decline was illustrated in NY State yesterday, with the adoption by the state powers to legalize "gay marriage".  http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_gay_marriage_ny
  This further decline of the values and culture of this nation will only hasten it's demise!  Such has been the result of every great empire, since a short perusal of history will show that when a culture has sunk to such a low level, collapse was not far behind.  In many cases, it was as if the acceptance of this particular sin as "normal" was the clear harbinger of that culture's fall.
  The decision was slow coming in NY state, for one main reason.  While we are a 'blue' state, and the passage was a foregone conclusion, there was a sticking point..in that the bill's proponents wanted any pastor who refused to marry perverts to be prosecuted.  The conservatives and obviously some not-so-conservatives saw this as an intrusion into the 'seperation clause' and balked.  So now, if two men or two women wish to marry in NY they can go to it !
  Since NY now says that marriage need NOT be between "one man and one woman", they will obviously have to explain themselves further, since there was no mention concerning a man and his dog or a woman and her donkey.. ;) :D :P
  Really smart folks in those state legislatures these days... ;D ;D :o :P

  I realise I spoke in the last post about Soros' "open Society", which B Hussein is (dutifully) trying to put into effect.  Perhaps some are not too well versed in what he is 'up to'..  Well; here's a short take, a conservative perspective;

  http://www.conservapedia.com/George_Soros

   ...But the radical left doesn't trust him either;

It did. Those Romans were chaste humanitarians, then they went and started having sex outside of Holy Matrimony, and next thing you knew, God took their empire away from them, and they weren't able to force their will on others anymore.

pity.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

What the Romans couldn't do because their time ran out, the Roman Church pretty much did for hundreds of years. ;)

  The Assyrians and Greeks before them started to accept homosexuality just before their fall.

  Curiously, I went to a high school graduatioon ceremony this afternoon because an exchange student  with us graduated.  Now, keep in mind our buffoons in our state legislature just legalized pervert weddings..the keynote speaker made it a point to proselytize for "gay" rights.. I consider a graduation ceremony a poor venue in which to attempt indoctrination.
  Our local newspaper will hear about it, come Monday..

IG, that's sick.  we need to put'em back in the closet.

This is America, which should be a hindrance to plans to stuff anyone into a closet. We've made progress; we don't buy and sell black people, lynching them is against the rules now, and we're not allowed to stuff anyone into a closet to shut them out of society, because we don't approve of or share their sexual preferences.

I note that it has turned out from time to time, that the most vociferous of homophobes were actually... closeted or former homosexuals. An interesting irony, isn't it? I kind of feel bad for them when they get exposed... it's got to sting.

Cocked and locked...

You make a point; I was referring specifically to homosexuals. I'm not sure what the problem is with polygamists - they do that in Utah, right? - but pedophiles get no sympathy from me; I've got young daughters.

BigMike, no hypocrisy intended, and I hope you'll pardon any perceived arrogance, that wasn't intended either. I was serious - I think the Golden Rule is tremendously important, and often overlooked. If we (church on earth,, for believers) put emphasis on that in our dealings with people - and not just w/our pals? - the Kingdom of God is furthered here on earth. Emphasizing & living the Golden Rule will have more positive effect on more people, than railing against homosexuals will ever have. And on those red letters... well, that's just my recent preference. Looking at what Jesus actually said, as opposed to what people say he said (or what Paul said) has been instructive for me... might be for others, too.

Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

So are you saying you want to be kicked off GBO? I am sure it can be arranged if that is what you want. Not sure how holding to the rules that were set in place 12+ years ago to NOT ATTACK OTHER MEMBERS can be considered PC but call it what you like.
I don't recall you getting a warning so maybe you are one of those folks that when a rule is enforced you have a problem with it, OK fine with me but the rule still stands and folks who break it will still be banned.

  Yellow;
      Really, you should be a bit more subtl than that !  One of the oldest tricks in the book is the "gay rights" crowd trying to gain legitimacy by equating their struggle with racism.  One's race is not chosen, but their various activities are purely optional !

  BTW;  What is your beef with Paul ?  Sounds like you want to take the Bible "cafeteria style"..simply selecting certain things you happen to agree with.
  Read (Rev 22:19)..and that is not Paul speaking..that's John, writing under inspiration..
        You may also want to check this out:.....

 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness"

Not trying for sublety, but simply noting that things once common - owning black people, selling them, hanging them with near-impunity, forcing homosexuals to keep closeted for fear of retribution - those aren't allowed anymore anymore. That's progress, right?

No beef; just a choice of emphasis. I'm interested in what Jesus had to say, and what he emphasized, is all.

Iron - do you not agree that a strong emphasis on the Golden Rule might have a good effect on society?

  Sure, a strong emphasis on the 'golden rule' is important, but it is not 'all-consuming' as far as Christianity is concerned.  Each of the disciples were taught at jesus' feet and thus, they are apprised of his motivations and desires.  Paul did not favorably meet Jesus during Jesus' earthly ministry, but he was none the less an apostle
        After Paul met Jesus on the Damascus road, he went into town by following Jesus' directions..and was accepted by all the other apostles, even to the point where he was able to upbraid Peter and give him spiritual direction.  The teachings of Paul are within keeping of Jesus' instructions, as evidenced by the apostles, complete backing of Paul and his teaching.

      So now, perhaps as an able student of Biblical studies you can offer commentary on (Romans 1:22-29).  Please, just a short synopsis will suffice...

  "22 Claiming to be wise, they became utter fools instead. 23 And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people, or birds and animals and snakes. 24 So God let them go ahead and do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other's bodies. 25 Instead of believing what they knew was the truth about God, they deliberately chose to believe lies. So they worshiped the things God made but not the Creator himself, who is to be praised forever. Amen. 26 That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. 27 And the men, instead of having normal sexual relationships with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men and, as a result, suffered within themselves the penalty they so richly deserved. 28 When they refused to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their evil minds and let them do things that should never be done. 29 Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, fighting, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip." (Romans 1:22-29)

Seems to me that hatred & contempt towards homosexuals (and sometimes Blacks, Mexicans, Muslims, liberals, smart people, etc...)  is all-consuming for some.

So now, tell us of the teaching in (Romans 1:22-29)

I'd rather discuss the Golden Rule and how it can be a good testimony - that, or maybe talk about getting started into reloading, maybe even casting bullets for my 30-30 (thanks, Junior). You're welcome to hold forth if you'd like.

I'm quite comfortable. Dinner is almost ready. Tilapia tonight.

you've not answered... I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are glad that our society has grown out of slavery, lynchings, and gay-bashing. I don't count you with those who talk about killing gay people if they won't stay closeted.

I do not hate nor have contempt toward homosexuals, blacks, mexicans, liberals, smart people  ::).  muslims; yes.  But should I mention anything, it is deemed "all consuming".

always on the defensive any more.
