For their action job and to widen the rear sight groove.  When I took it to UPS and they figured up the shipping charge I thought I was gonna die!   :o

They really get you on the "over night" fee!  $66 to ship one little SAA!   :(  If Ida known it was going to be that much I would have sent both my revolvers...  :-\

I will be very interested to see how happy you are with their work. They seem to have the most reasonable prices I can find, and I'm thinking about sending my Colt to him. My trigger is just too heavy for me to shoot it well. Did you have to send the gun and them keep it until they are ready to work on it, or were you able to send a deposit and reserve a time? Please keep us informed.

It cost me $90 to return the FA83 .454 to Freedom Arms after I finished the review on it and it was time to return it to them. Ouch!

I gave them a call and they said send the gun!   :D  So I did with a letter telling them what I wanted them to do and a check for the total amount of the work and return shipping.  Pretty simple and they are real good at returning emails.  I haven't heard anything but good about them.

Well, the lady at UPS originally said something like $88!   :o  Then she said let me see what I can do to make it less and came up with the sixty something.

I have heard that people take the cylinder out and ship it as machine parts but I'm not so sure of how legal that is.   :-\  Them ATF boys ain't got no sense of humor and I'm to old to be "Big Willie's little Bubba" in some federal pen!   :P

I wonder how Long Hunter can ship it back to you for just $25? Does UPS charge you more if you don't have a FFL? I've never shipped a gun before; always been on the receiving hand and have always had them shipped to my local pawn shop guy. Looks like there's gotta be a cheaper way to get it to them.

I wondered the same thing and asked the UPS lady.  She said they probably have an account with UPS which gives them cheaper shipping rates.   :-\

That shipping may be the deal breaker on sending them my other SAA.  Something around $100 shipping is rediculous!   :o

FFL dealers, gunsmiths and manufacturers don't have to ship over night. They can use USPS Priority which is far cheaper. If you have an FFL dealer who will ship for you with no added fee you too can save money.

My local guy lets me bring it in along with packaging and label.  He bills me then next time I walk in what UPS charges.  Usually around $25.00.  He's just good that way, and that is why I will pay him a few dollars more for a gun than I will Walmart.
