Hey joe, 7.62x25/finally got out to the shop today...
« on: January 01, 2004, 02:07:02 PM »
Since we are snowed in today with a Snow Emergency Warning in Hood River, I finally got out to my shop and lit up my heater.  I had two new friends waiting for me, a nice new box of Sierra 85 gr Round-nose soft-points, and a brand new jug of AA #9.  I have never used either before, but when I bought my Lee dies the enclosed load data listed Old #9 as the ultimate best powder. Yeah, I know....faster isn't always better,.... bigger isn't better either but that's not what SHE said!
Ok, they claim 13.1 grs will deliver an awesome 1927 fps.  I figured 13.0 will suffice, I haven't tried these loads yet, but I'll get back with a report.

Robert:  What pistol, or rifle, did they test your AA#9 load with a 85 gn bullet in 7.62x25mm to get 1900'/sec?????????  Real curious here.  Mikey.

Accurate Powder lists it at 1972 fps

They say they tested it for pressure in an 8 inch pressure barrel, then fired it in a factory CZ-52 to clock it at 1972 fps.  These loads are for CZ only and other firarms should not use these loads.

I went up today with my new Whelen for testing, but haven't done anything with the CZ- and the hot 185's yet.
