My grandpa never owned but one gun, a sidehammer double 12 ga.  He never bought but one type of shell, #6 shot.  For "large" game he just cut the shell and had an instant "punkin ball" as he called it.  I've seen him anchor hogs quite well that way.
Thanks for sharing that. Makes me feel pretty well-equipped to be hunting with a 336 topped by a Nikon 2x7...
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

My parents lived through the depression & had a different mindset. My dad only owned one gun his entire life and never more than 5 bullets, just enough to load it.  :o He gave me a 22 rifle when I turned 14. It was my only gun and I killed everything with it including wild hogs. Thats how I know that a 22lr will work on any kind of game. You just got to be a marksman & know where to aim. I always get a kick out of hog hunting discussions about the rifle it takes to kill them. I've killed truckloads with a 22. Of course you must get close and put the bullet into their braine.  ;)

Now I have all kinds of guns but hardly get to go hunting. Physically It's hard for me to get out anymore. Oh & by the way I still have the rifle my dad gave me years ago......
