Orthodox Church Still Blocked
« on: July 03, 2011, 05:32:07 PM »
St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church stood at Ground Zero.  It was destroyed by islamasist thugs on 11 Sept, 2001.

It has not yet been rebuilt.

The Port Authority is blocking efforts of its parishoners and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese to rebuild it.

Why?

Rebuild St. Nicholas Rally

Yet public officials are still wetting themselves over the prospect of a mosque that never existed in the area to be buil within easy shouting distance.  Again, Why?

St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church stood at Ground Zero...  It was destroyed... It has not yet been rebuilt... The Port Authority is blocking efforts of its parishoners and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese to rebuild it... Why?

I don't know that answer to that. You seem to be up on this issue - have you not been able to find what this Port Authority have to say on the subject? Have you asked them?
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Got a "thank you for contacting us...blah, blah, blah" email back.

I've also contacted my reps in both houses of Congress.  Got the same sort of message back.

What it boils down to is that they don't want to admit to the governments anti-Christan bias.

ADDED:

As the only house of worship destroyed in that attack, one that had been there since 1916, it seems reasonable that it should have received prompt attention for rebuilding.  Instead the Port Authority and other burro-crats have dragged their feet and thrown up roadblocks.

don't be offended by me pressing - what did they give as a reason? What reason have the Greeks given? There must have been something in the blah blah blah - or it may be that they're not going to give details to an uninvolved party.

So far as anti-Christian bias goes... is there any way they can get loose of that accusation, other than take the position you think they should take?

or maybe it is anti-Christian bias. Is there some evidence of this?

(I don't know anything about this port authority or this issue)

The 'blah blah blah' was pretty much standard burro-crat verbiage - "important and complex"  and "working diligently" and "careful consideration" and "best for all."

The anti-Christian bias is clear in this.  The proposed mohammedean education and indoctrination center is being pushed on a fast track, but this Christian parish is denied the right to rebuild on land it has owned since 1916.  The proposed new site is over the vehicle inspection garage.

Or maybe this:

Yet public officials are still wetting themselves over the prospect of a mosque that never existed in the area to be buil within easy shouting distance.

It would be difficult for any rational person to deny that either of these statements are not true.

SUBJOE. Clearly anti Christian to me too. They've been denied for 9 1/2  years, what more proof is needed?? Satans disciples seem to have their blessing to build their monument to victory over America. Seems biased to me. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
