Everyone have a safe and sane 4th of July! 

I have made friend Colin an honorary American Revolutionary for the day and he will help us make  King  George's troops unwelcome.  (He is a British citizen) 

The truck is loaded and we will be headed to Southpaw's after noon.



Take lots of pictures and post them guys....I will have some you tube stuff tomorrow.

The seacoast boys are coming up @ 5 or so should be a couple of my daughters friends as well .

Brats ,hot dogs ,hamburgers , Mikes famous 12 lbs. brisket .....and something else ....oh yea beer ! ;D

and cannons 8)

This neighborhood will go nuts this evening ,last night they went nuts so tonight S/B SWEET !

I must apologize to everyone. There will be no firing of anything at my fortress home in Vicksburg (DD can get a laugh out of that one). With the weather as dry as its been an my handicap being as it is I am afraid that if something gets out of hand that I won't be able to keep it under control.

I figure the safety of my home and neighborhood is more important. For those that are going to fire a salute please be careful and safe.

Happy Independence Day everyone!

I ask that we also take a few moments to think about what we celebrate, 56 men signed their names to a declaration seperating us from our mother country a treasonous act, if it had failed
these men would have hung. and we would still possibly be subjects of England, think about
these men and what they risked and what many lost to give us our Republic, without those
56 signatures on the Declaration there would be no United States of America.

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America,

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

The first shot of the day  for us was fired from my wife's firecracker cannon.  Her gun sat on the line all day and was the last cannon put away to close the day.

In between 3 lbs of black powder and $250 worth of fire works were used to celebrate American Independence day.

Camera was a cheap Kodak Easy Shot.  Hope to get a HD video some day.
It sure does sound good.  Can't hear it in the video but it echos for a while off the cliffs around the KY river which is about half a mile away. The wife said she heard it and was in the shower at the time.  I was out in the back field about a quarter mile from the house.

 I took friend  Colin from South Africa up to Southpaw's farm to celebrate the 4th of July by shooting fireworks and cannons.


Here is Colin posing with Southpaw's mortar.


 


Right after this picture was taken, Colin was offered a chance to fire the mortar.    He slapped on his shooting muffs and was ready to shoot.  I was yelling at him to hold on while I got the video camera set up.  But he was just too excited and fired before I was ready.

That ring you hear right at the start of the video is the ball leaving the bore.  Watch carefully at the end of the video you will see the impact of the bowling ball 365 yards down range.
